Exporting Obj's
Exporting Obj's
Part 3
If you don’t care about getting models from other programs into Maya then skip this
While this is aimed at using 3ds Max it should be the same as other programs
Obj's of the objects are provided
Welcome to part 3 so by now you should have a basic scene done if you are making your own
If not remember those badly drawn ideas i had well they turned into what is located in the screenshot folder
Go have a look if you have not already
i will note tho for this tutorial you will get a very cut down version of that scene because i'm not happy with the way i did my textures and i want to add some more stuff bla bla bla
But i will release a model library a bit later to help with creation of new scenes and stories
So we have our scene either your own or my TutorialMap.max(3ds max 2014)
Next part is for 3ds max so if you using something else then adapt it for what you are using
Open TutorialMap.max
Getting the objects from programs to Maya is easy if you have done your models right and don’t worry Maya will tell you if you have not in the form of annoying errors
So we have our scene open and its all gray and boring this is because this is a tutorial on how to make stories not renders (i kinda forgot that part and went walkabouts)but we are back
Tutorial!
When we export the objects as obj's they will keep their scale and position so when they are imported into Maya they will be exactly where they are now
Also any x objects that are not attached will be exported as one file but will import as x objects
So start by exporting single objects and hiding them after export
couch
door1
door2
doorframe
light
tvcabnet
bed
After these have been done group select the whole scene and export it as walls
you can export them individually if you really want
There are 4 objs that are not included in the TutorialMap which we will cover later
so we got a bunch of obj's either from TutoralMap/Folders or your own scene
I have included all the obj's in the obj folder
Mush Part 4 is waiting
